A week long workshop for the Vignelli Dialogue in collaboration with RIT's Vignelli Center for Design Studies and the Folkwang University of Arts.
Software used: Blender, Adobe Illustrator
Archetype Exploration
Played around with the archetypes that were provided and came up with ideas that varied from stackable storage containers to dinnerware to other culinary objects.
Final Archetype
The following form illustrated nesting Indian clay pots, like the Matryoshka dolls.
Designed to function as both a practical dining solution and a sculptural centerpiece. The bowls nest within each other allowing for compact storage, and the varying heights add depth and energy to a dining table.
3D Renders
The colors have been inspired by the classic Vignelli palette. The material is heat-resistant Borosilicate glass that has been tinted using metal oxides.
For each set, the bottom bowl has a slight ridge while the upper bowl has a groove running around the center of the rim. This slightly chamfered edge allows the bowls to be securely stacked on top of one another.
